Release Notes
Fixes and improvements in every Tempus TV release.
Version 1.2
- Updated the loading screen shown when the app starts up to display the Tempus TV logo instead of the default Expo icon.
- Fixed a bug where the "All done!" message for a completed TV Time import would appear again every time you signed back into your account. Whether you’ve already seen it is now remembered against your account rather than the device, so it shows once and stays gone — including after reinstalling the app or signing in on another device.
- Fixed a bug where the TV Time import card on the Discover tab would come back after you dismissed it and signed back in. Dismissing it is now remembered against your account too, so it stays hidden everywhere you sign in.
- Fixed a bug where opening Settings > Import from TV Time would show the results of your last completed import instead of the file picker, so you had to dismiss that before you could start a new import.
- Marking an episode as watched now feels noticeably snappier. The app used to wait for the checkmark animation to finish before actually saving that you’d watched it, adding a delay before anything happened behind the scenes — it now saves right away while the animation plays. The TV Shows tab also used to refresh your entire library every time you marked a single episode watched, which got slower the more you’d watched overall; it now only updates the one show you just watched, so this stays fast no matter how much watch history you have.
- The search bar on the Discover tab (and other search fields across the app) no longer autocorrects what you type, since search queries are almost always movie and show titles rather than regular words.
- Marking an episode as watched from a show’s details screen no longer shows the "Episode Complete" popup — that now only appears on the TV Shows tab, where it fits alongside your Continue Watching list.
- Opening a show’s details screen now takes you straight to the next season you haven’t finished yet, instead of the season your last watched episode was in. For example, a show you’ve fully watched through season 2 now opens on season 3 by default, not season 2.
- Renamed "Add to Watchlist" to "Add to Library" throughout the app. "Watchlist" suggested a list of things you intend to watch, but a show or movie stays in your library even after you’ve finished it — "Library" better reflects that it’s just your tracked collection, watched or not.
- The Calendar tab now loads noticeably faster. Switching between TV Shows and Movies used to fetch both every time you opened the tab, even though only one is visible at a time — now each only loads once you actually switch to it, and revisiting the tab within half an hour no longer re-fetches release dates that haven’t changed.
- You’ll now be asked to choose a username the first time you sign in — whether that’s right after creating a new account or signing back into an existing one that never had one set. It’s suggested from your email and already checked for you, so you can just continue with it or pick your own. Usernames are unique across all accounts and can be changed later from your profile.
- You can now report a bug or suggest an improvement without leaving the app. Two new buttons in Settings — Report an Issue and Suggest an Improvement — open a simple form where you can describe what happened, attach a screenshot if it helps, and send it straight to us. If you’re offline when you send it, you’ll be told right away instead of being shown a false success.
Version 1.1
- Fixed a crash where the app could be terminated by iOS for using too much memory (WatchdogTermination) when viewing a TV show with a very long season. Episode lists now load lazily in pages as you scroll, instead of loading every episode’s image into memory at once.
- Added screen-tracking breadcrumbs to our crash reporting (Sentry) so that future crash reports show which screen a user was on when the app crashed. This will make it much faster to diagnose and fix issues going forward.
- Added the ability to import your watch history from TV Time. If you downloaded your TV Time data as JSON files before it shut down, you can now import your movies and shows from a card on the Discover tab, or anytime later from Settings > Import from TV Time.
- TV Time imports now run on our servers instead of on your device, so the import keeps going in the background even if you close the app, lose connection, or your phone locks — no need to keep the app open and watching until it finishes. Imports are also significantly faster.
- Added a completion screen once your TV Time import finishes, showing how many movies and shows were tracked and listing anything that couldn’t be matched so you can add it manually. You’ll also get a notification when your import completes.
- Fixed a bug where shows you were only partway through could incorrectly show up as fully "Completed," and where the "Continue Watching" list could be missing shows for accounts with a large watch history.
- Fixed a bug where TV shows with an announced but not-yet-released season could incorrectly show up in "Continue Watching," and where it was possible to accidentally mark an unreleased episode as watched.
- Fixed an issue preventing daily notification reminders (new episodes, new seasons, and "continue watching" nudges) from being sent.
- Improved Sign in with Google so it no longer shows a confusing prompt referencing our backend service, and now uses Google’s own native sign-in screen instead.
- You can now tap the title of any section on the TV Shows tab ("Continue Watching," "Not Yet Started," "Watch History") to open it in a full list view showing every item, instead of only the few shown in the row.
- Added the ability to pause a show. If you’ve fallen behind on something and don’t want it cluttering "Continue Watching," tap the new pause button on the show’s details screen (it sits between Add to Spotlight and Add to List, and only shows up for shows you haven’t finished yet). Paused shows move into their own "Paused" section on the TV Shows tab and your Profile, and drop out of "Continue Watching" until you resume them. You can resume from the pause button on the show’s details screen, or with the "Resume" button shown directly on its card in the Paused section.
